The Iranian Tasnim news agency reported, citing a “well-informed source,” that “the Americans’ proposal contains several unacceptable clauses.” Ynet reports it. Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, defined the points indicated in the memorandum, revealed by Axios, as an “American wish list (and) not a reality”.

The contents of the draft

Fourteen points, on one page, to end the US-Iran war and establish a framework for more detailed negotiations. This is the structure of the memorandum that – according to Axios – is being worked on, designed to allow the US to quickly resume military actions or restore the naval blockade if the 30-day negotiations fail. Here – again according to Axios – are the main steps.

* CONFLICT RESOLUTION – Immediate ceasefire and opening of a 30-day negotiation window for a detailed agreement on the opening of Hormuz, the limitation of Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions. Negotiations could take place in Islamabad or Geneva.

* NUCLEAR CONSTRAINTS – Temporary moratorium, followed by a long-term one (12-15 years), on the enrichment of Iranian uranium, with Tehran suspending activities at the underground facilities.

* SANCTIONS AND FROZEN ASSETS – The United States in exchange would lift economic sanctions on Iran and release frozen Tehran funds.

* STRAIT OF HORMUZ – Gradual lifting of the American naval blockade and navigation restrictions imposed by Iran, restoration of freedom of navigation for all vessels.

* CHECKS AND STOCK MANAGEMENT – Enhanced inspections of Iranian facilities, including “surprise checks” by UN inspectors. Potential transfer of Iran’s highly enriched uranium outside its borders, possibly to the United States.

* LONG-TERM COMMITMENTS – Binding guarantees from Iran not to pursue the development of nuclear weapons.

Israeli raid in south Beirut: “a high-ranking Hezbollah leader hit”

A new Israeli attack hit the southern suburbs of Beirut in the evening, a stronghold of the pro-Iranian group Hezbollah, for the first time since the truce came into force on April 17. In a joint note, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that «the IDF attacked the commander of the Radwan force of the terrorist organization Hezbollah in Beirut, to eliminate him. No terrorist enjoys immunity: Israel’s long arm will capture every enemy and assassin. We promised to guarantee safety to the inhabitants of the north and so we are doing so.”
