The weapon was identified which, according to the investigators, may have been used to mortally hurt Filippo Verterame during the fight that took place in recent days on the beach of Le Cinella in Isola Capo Rizzuto. In the late afternoon yesterday, the carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Crotone company found and seized a long blade knife, stained with blood, hidden among the dense vegetation near the place of the scuffle.

The acquisition of the weapon – defined by investigators “a decisive piece” to reconstruct the dynamics of the crime – came at the end of meticulous and coordinated research with the Public Prosecutor of Crotone, directed by Domenico Guarascio. A relevant contribution has arrived, according to the investigators, by the indications provided by Giuseppe Paparo: discharged from the hospital for the injuries reported in the fight, was again heard in the presence of the public prosecutor and the military of the weapon, offering elements deemed useful to locate the knife.

The technical investigations on the seized weapon – including biological and typewritten reliefs – will now be fundamental to verify its actual correlation with the murder and clarify the roles and responsibilities of those present. The investigations continue tirelessly, with the aim of precisely defining times, methods and causes that led to the escalation of violence costing the young man’s life.

From the Carabinieri weapon they let it know that the investigative activity will continue in the next few hours with further insights and feedback, in the utmost reserve, to shed full light on a fact of particular gravity and social alarm.
