Israeli defense minister Israel Katz has promised to destroy Gaza City if Hamas will not agree to disarm, release all the hostages left in the area and end the war on the conditions of Israel. “Soon, the doors of hell will open on the heads of the killers and rapists of Hamas in Gaza, until they accept the Israeli conditions to end the war, first of all the release of all the hostages and their disarmament,” wrote the minister on social media. “If they do not accept, Gaza, the capital of Hamas, will become Rafah and Beit Hanoun,” already razed to the ground, he added.

UN: in Gaza is famine, 132,000 children at risk

The famine in Gaza is “entirely caused by man” and the lives of 132,000 children under five are at risk due to malnutrition. This is what we read in the Report of the Etegrated Food Security Phase ranking (IPC), a global hunger monitoring system supported by the UN, which officially declared the state of famine in the strip due to the blocking of aid by Israel.

“The time of the debate and the outcome has passed, hunger is present and is spreading quickly,” says the report. In the report it is stated that the levels of malnutrition, in particular among children, have increased drastically in recent months in the first full -blown famine of the Middle East. “It is expected that by June 2026 at least 132,000 children under five years will suffer from acute malnutrition, double compared to the estimates of the IPC of May”, reads the document. There are over 41,000 cases of high risk of death and about 55,500 pregnant women and breastfeeding are malnourished and urgently require food and assistance.

“After 22 months of incessant conflict, over half a million people in the Gaza strip is facing catastrophic conditions characterized by hunger, misery and death”, reads still in the document. This number, based on the information collected between 1 July and 15th August, will be expected to almost 641,000 people, almost a third of the population, by the end of September. The IPC also said that it is the most serious worsening of the situation since it started analyzing the data on hunger in the strip. In particular, the situation in Gaza City, where the occupation by the Israeli army was started, and the famine could extend to the south, up to Deir Al-Balah and Khan Youunis, by the end of next month.
