Iranian intelligence minister killed

Stockholm, ‘Iran has executed a Swedish citizen’

“It is with dismay that I learned of the recent execution of a Swedish citizen in Iran,” Stockholm Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergar said in a statement.
Since the man’s arrest in June 2025, Sweden has “repeatedly raised the issue at various levels with Iranian representatives,” he added. “In these contacts, we have underlined Sweden’s expectation that our citizen would receive a fair trial and not be sentenced to death.”
“It is clear that the legal proceedings that led to the execution of the Swedish citizen did not take place in compliance with the rule of law”, concluded the minister who did not reveal the identity of the executed citizen.
Previously, the Iranian judiciary website, Mizan Online, announced the execution of Kouroush Keyvani, accused of spying for Israel, arrested during the war between Iran and Israel in June last year.
The site detailed his meetings with Mossad agents and claimed that Keyvani had received training in “six European countries and Tel Aviv.”
This is the first public announcement of an execution since the beginning of the war on February 28th.
