From Anagni to Vieste, passing, among others, from Ancora, Benevento or Catania: SThe Italian municipalities that have officially expressed their interest in applying to the Italian capital of culture for the year 2028 responding to the notice published by the Ministry of Culture. “A first step that confirms the vitality of the territories and the widespread will to invest in culture as a development engine, social cohesion and urban regeneration” comments Mic. The candidates come from all over the national territory and represent a broad spectrum of urban, historical and cultural realities: from art cities to the internal areas, from villages to aggregations of municipalities. With this first phase, the path to the designation of the Italian capital is officially opens. Municipalities that have presented expressions of interest will now be called to formalize their candidacy by preparing, by September 25, 2025, a candidacy dossier containing the cultural project, the territorial development strategies, the subjects involved, the economic sustainability plan and the expected objectives.
