It’s raining medals for Italy at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The walking half marathon gave the Italians three podiums: two silvers and a bronze between the men’s and women’s races.
In the men’s event Francesco Fortunato wins the silver medal, while Andrea Cosi completes the Italian double by climbing onto the third step of the podium. The gold goes to the Spaniard Paul McGrath.
Mihai silver among women
Another medal comes shortly after from the women’s race, with Alexandrina Mihai second in 1.31’04». The Italian won the final duel at the finish line with the Ukrainian Olyanovska, third in 1.31’07».
The gold medal went to Spain’s Maria Perez. For Italy also the fifth place of Antonella Palmisano.
