The room of the Chamber gave the green light to the separation of careers with 243 yes and 109 no. It is the third reading. The absolute majority, which has been reached, is sufficient for the continuation of the process of the constitutional reform that now awaits the last OK from Palazzo Madama.

On the other hand, the majority of two thirds that would have precluded the referendum was not centered. After the vote there were applause of the majority.

In the classroom, after the green light, the tussle was unleashed. The Democratic Party, by voice of the group leader Chiara Braga, harshly criticized the members of the government present for having applauded after the ok. At that point several exponents of the oppositions approached the government’s desks to protest. While the president on duty Sergio Costa invited to maintain calm, went up the tension among the deputies of several sides who were about to get to the hands. The session was temporarily suspended and then resumed after a few minutes.

Today’s vote on the separation of careers, who passed in third reading, opens the doors to the possibility of a referendum on justice. The popular consultation, in fact, would have been precluded only if in both the last parliamentary passages, of each room, the measure had been approved with two thirds of the votes. In Montecitorio would have served today at least 267 yes, instead we stopped at 243. The next and last step is the green light of the Senate.
