Several chants and some of the Juventus fans turned their backs: the minute of silence to remember Sandro Mazzola at the Allianz Stadium turns into an outrage to the memory of the deceased champion. As on all Serie A pitches, 60 seconds of contemplation were also celebrated under the Mole to remember the flag of Inter and the son of Valentino Mazzola, captain of Grande Torino, who died in the night between Friday and Saturday at the age of 83. Before Juventus-Atalanta, however, the anniversary was tainted by some Juventus supporters. In the South corner, in the central sectors of the first and second ring, dozens of fans chose to turn their backs during the minute’s silence. Not only that, many others ruined the memory of Mazzola by singing chants for the missing Juventus players Gaetano Scirea, Giovanni Agnelli and Andrea Fortunato.
«There is no rivalry that can justify disrespect during a minute of silence. Honoring the memory and uniting in remembrance during moments of commemoration represents a common responsibility that transcends affiliations and colors.” With this note, published on its website shortly after 10pm, Juventus distanced itself and condemned the behavior of some of its fans who, before the match against Atalanta, did not respect the minute of silence to honor the memory of Sandro Mazzola, turning their backs to the pitch and singing chants during the 60 seconds of silence
