A child, just over two years of age, was transferred yesterday morning by Lamezia to the “Bambin Gesù” hospital in Rome to continue care, thanks to a mission prepared in recent days in collaboration between Suem 118, the provincial health company of Catanzaro and the Roman pediatric hospital.
The child, as the ASP is known, is suffering from a complex pathology for serious Christmas prematurity and presents, among other pathological conditions, a renal failure for which hospitalization has been made necessary at a highly specialized pediatric structure. Until the time of the transfer, the baby was followed by the “Giovanni Paolo II” Pediatric Operating Unit.

«The clinical situation of the baby – explain from the ASP – requires the continuous infusion of liquids and monitoring of blood values; Faced with this painting, after a meeting of the day 14 August between the ASP of Catanzaro, Suem 118 of the Calabria Region and “Bambin Gesù”, a helicopter health transport was agreed, which guaranteed rapidity and the possibility of constantly monitoring the parameters of the baby “.

In the meeting an alternative plan had also been hypothesized in the event that the weather conditions had not allowed the flight; Thanks to the favorable climate, the transport took place regularly yesterday morning.
The mission began at 8.30 and the child left at 9.30 to Rome, where at 12 he was taken over by the Bambin Jesus team.

The helmet was held without problems and the “Pegaso 51” helicopter with the 118 team then returned to Catanzaro, available for other emergencies. The doctors of the Roman hospital “Bambin Gesù” informed the Pediatrics of Lamezia Terme that they have “already opened the first assessments on the small patient”.
“Therefore, a team work is positively concluded – the top of the ASP underlined – which has seen staff of three health structures for four days, in the context of synergies that must be structured in an increasingly solid and fluid way for the benefit of patients”.
