In recent days, with the coordination of the Licensing Office of the Administrative and Social Police Division of the Catanzaro Police Headquarters, the bomb squad of the local Regional Unit of the State Police completed an important operation to destroy explosive material, which was highly dangerous for public safety.
The intervention involved different types of pyrotechnic material kept in an authorized warehouse: following careful checks, the expiry of the material and a state of deterioration such as to generate a concrete risk for public safety were ascertained.
The destruction proposal was put forward by the Police Commissioner who, on the basis of the technical findings and checks carried out by specialized personnel, considered that there were circumstances of real and immediate danger for the community. Then the Prefect of the province of Catanzaro, having assessed the validity of the reasons, ordered its immediate destruction with a specific decree.
The intervention, conducted with the utmost attention and in full compliance with safety procedures, ended with the complete elimination of the explosive substances, thus restoring conditions of complete safety to the area concerned, located in a central district of Lamezia Terme.
The operation represents a further example of how the constant vigilance of the State Police and the coordination between the institutions guarantee effectiveness and timeliness in prevention and public safety actions.
