The Structure for the fight against hydrogeological instability, led by the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani, has awarded Patti, in the province of Messina, the safety works for the inhabited area of via Aldo Moro. They will be carried out, according to the tender procedures defined by the offices directed by Sergio Tumminello, by a temporary grouping of companies coordinated by Patriarca Group srl of Comiso for an amount of 1.1 million euros and by virtue of a reduction of 30.9 percent.

This brings to a close a long-standing story, thanks to a work that will restore full and safe usability to an area that takes the name of the San Giovanni district, with a P3 danger index and R4 risk index, securing the Iacp buildings on the valley side and several private homes on the mountain side which present cracks on the perimeter walls due to the still active instability phenomena.

Among the technical solutions envisaged, there are hydraulic and consolidation works, useful for restoring the decorum of the entire area but also for guaranteeing high safety standards by reducing inconveniences and dangers for residents. We will also proceed with the demolition and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure.

The slope presents various critical issues, with evident signs on the retaining walls and on the road system, with depressions caused by the progressive landslide. The design solutions also concern the arrangement of the entire road surface and sidewalks, already largely compromised by the action of the landslide phenomenon that has been ongoing for years, as well as the construction of three bulkheads of different lengths, all surmounted by a curb.
