In relation to the damage caused by infiltration at the new Hub Community House in Lipari, the Strategic Management of the Messina ASP believes it is necessary to take a clear and responsible position.

“What happened – writes the Strategic Management of the ASP of Messina – is not acceptable. A newly built public work, intended to guarantee essential health services to the community and carried out through important public resources, should not present critical issues of this nature.

For this reason, as soon as it was informed of the incident, the Company ordered the immediate suspension of all payments directly or indirectly connected to the work and the initiation of disputes against the executing company and the Works Management. Responsibilities, any omissions and deficiencies in implementation and technical supervision will be promptly ascertained. If critical issues emerge, action will be taken in the competent offices in accordance with the provisions of current legislation, including any material damage and damage caused to the company’s image.”

“The ASP – continues the Strategic Management of the ASP of Messina – composed of the general director Giuseppe Cuccì, the administrative director Giancarlo Niutta and the health director Giuseppe Ranieri Trimarchi – is the injured party in this affair, together with the community of Lipari, to which we address our apologies for an episode that we do not intend to minimize or justify. However, it is necessary to clarify a fundamental fact: despite what happened, the health activity of the Community House has never stopped. The visits scheduled have continued regularly, the nursing clinic has remained operational and services will continue to be guaranteed compatibly with safety conditions. We have already arranged that the restoration should take place with the utmost urgency, in a workmanlike manner and without further costs to the company, to be borne by those who are responsible. Citizens have the right to safe, efficient and correctly carried out public works.
