Cinema, music, politics and health: the twenty -two edition of the Magna Graecia Film Festival Celebrate the elevation of the film festival, which has always been dedicated to first and second works, to cultural review open to current affairs. In the rich program presented at the press conference, the creator and artistic director of the Festival Gianvito Casadonte confirms the new formula of the event which, in his return to Soverato, combines the enhancement of emerging cinema civil debates, author masterclasses and musical showcases.

It will be the inaugural evening to give the tone with the arrival of Toni Servillo For the first masterclass that will anticipate the screening of the film “The latest days of Maria Antonietta” by Gianluca Jodice; An intense and visionary work that re -elected the last moments of an iconic figure of European history in a contemporary key, focusing on the decline of power and on the inevitability of the collapse.

There are two locations of the event, which will focus on the main evenings on the seafront and inside the Supercinema and Municipal Theater the collateral events. Among the most anticipated moments, the masterclass of Margherita Buy (27 July), the meeting with Giancarlo Esposito (July 31), the masterclass of Serena Rossi During the final evening of August 2nd and the screenings of films such as “Familia”, “Black”, “Life as adults”, “and if my father”, “the boy with pink trousers”, “despite”, up to the intense “real” by Adele Tulli. “A selection of short films – specify the selectors -, which represent the best of the last three editions of the Picentia Short Film Festival (Battipaglia), carefully collected to tell the creative ferment of short Italian and international cinema, contemporary”.

From the most traditional story to visual experimentation, from comedy to social drama, up to the hybrid short film, the program offers a 360 degree glance on a continuously evolving cinematographic panorama, but for the first time the event also proposes two very topical thematic formats with The “Magna Graecia Politics” which will host the talk with Elly Schlein (29 July) and Antonio Tajani (August 1) and the “Magna Graecia Salute”, with experts including Ciro Policfi, Robert Nisticò, Massimo Andreoni on 28 and 30 July.

Returning to Soverato – is the comment of Gianvito Casadonte – the place where everything was born and where I took my first steps, is a choice of the heart that is giving me particular emotions and motivations. The hope is that, as always, the whole territory takes part in what has become a 360 -degree cultural laboratory in which the different languages of cinema and art coexist, themes and reflections are faced at the center of our present, making the big names meet with young talents. Always without paying any ticket, because the Magna Graecia Film Festival does not give up its accessible and inclusive soul ».

Among the event evenings, the musical moments with the performances of “Callamifaro”, and the performances of Motta on July 29, “Camilway” on July 30, Chiara Galiazzo on 31 and Kaze on August 1 to close with elegance a week of contaminations between arts.
