Maiora gets the Italian certification for gender equality

Maiora, a company operating in the center-south in the GDO and Cash & Carry channels with the Despar and Altasfera signs, has obtained the Italian certification for gender equality according to UNI/PDR 125: 2022 practice, issued by the accredited body Sure Italy, testifying to an organizational model that integrates fairness, respect and inclusion.

Gender equality: a choice that has always accompanied us

Already in 2022, when a dedicated Italian state standard was not yet present, the company had obtained the Equal Salary certification issued by the foundation of the same name. The non -profit organization has developed a scientific and objective method to measure wage equity in entrepreneurial realities. This tool, recognized by the European Commission and developed in collaboration with the exclusive University of Geneva, aims to unhinge the ambiguity which, still today, represent a concrete obstacle in the world of work.
Maiora, who years ago started a precursor path in its sector, distinguishing itself for extraordinary vision, was the first reality of the large -scale distribution and southern Italy that obtained the prestigious Equal Salary certification, attesting to the absence of pay gaps between men and women with equal qualifications and tasks.
This milestone also consecrated it as a pioneer in the adoption of sustainability and diversity policies, with an important role in promoting employment and inclusive culture in the South.

The certification path

Inside the organization it operates the Guide Committee for gender equality, a multidisciplinary team composed of collaborators and collaborators of different company functions, in charge of promoting initiatives, analyzing indicators and managing a budget dedicated to projects and activities for inclusion.
During the certification process, the accredited body is sure Italy examined:
• the protection measures of employees against any form of discrimination;
• the strategies for women’s career progression;
• the human resources management processes in the recruiting phase, which pursue gender equality through the definition of roses of balanced man-women candidates;
• Welfare and parenting policies;
• the policy on the issue of remuneration to verify the absence of gap between genres;
• Professional development practices and management of talents oriented to inclusion and equity.
With about 2,900 collaborators, of whom 47% women, Maiora confirms their role as a company attentive to the enhancement of people and the construction of a sustainable work context and respectful of diversity.
