In the Rossano prison, several objects not permitted between the medium and high security departments were found and seized, as well as approximately 40 grams of cocaine. The discovery occurred during a search that lasted from 3pm yesterday until late at night. The news was given by the local secretary of Sappe, Giovanni Vennari. The activity saw the use of approximately ninety penitentiary police officers from various institutions in the region, supported by dog units. «Our compliments go to the colleagues employed in this important operation for the brilliant work carried out – declared Giovanni Battista Durante, deputy general secretary of Sappe, and Francesco Ciccone, national secretary of the union -. «We hope that steps will be taken to make the prisons in Calabria and throughout Italy safer, by screening the institutions, as already done in Naples, and equipping all the structures with canine units».
