Today the “Zeus Protocol” was renewed between the Messina Police Headquarters and the Evaluna Association of the Center for Men for Men of Violence – Cuav Messina, signed by the Quaestor Annino Gargano and the President Cettina Restuccia.
From the signing of the previous memorandum of understanding in September 2023, thanks to the interinstitutional network balance created, it was possible to take charge by the Cuav 76 adult subjects, authors of acts of gender or domestic violence.
The results achieved so far from the activation of the protocol is significant; Specifically, 22 subjects were followed by the External Criminal Execution Office of Messina, 18 men drawn by the commissioner, 27 men and 3 women under the conditional suspension regime and finally 7 men on a voluntary basis.
Both individual and group paths have been carried out, with the main intent to counter the risk of repetition and/or recurrence, as well as to raise awareness of the participants with respect to the prejudices and patriarchal beliefs that continue to influence the cultural context of belonging, as well as to stimulate the empathic skills and the emotional intelligence of the mistreating and to accompany it in a path of responsibility.
“Always being there” and “always believing us” are, respectively, the watchword of the State Police and the Evaluna APS Association which, in full sharing of intent and objectives and in the light of the results achieved so far, intend to continue pursuing, each in the context of their respective skills and attributions, the elimination or the reduction of the risk of reiteration of violent and abusive behaviors towards women and minors and the recognition of the value of the social participation to the life of the community.
