The roots of the heart. They got off the plane with tired eyes but hearts full of expectations. Not ordinary tourists, but descendants of Calabrians who emigrated to America more than a century ago. Their journey is in search of deep connections with their land of origin.
The return of the emigrants from the United States, a delegation made up of 27 members of the Scanga family from different American cities, was a collective celebration. A return that had the flavor of rediscovery and homage. Francesco Scanga (1887-1965), founder of the family, was born in Lago. In 1905 he emigrated to the United States and in 1912 he married Eleonora Magliocco (1896-1962), also originally from Lago. From this marriage eleven children were born, carrying on the tradition and ties with the land of origin.
