In the premises of the Court of the Mari the first semifinal of Messervolathe culinary challenge broadcast on RTP, which saw the squid as absolute protagonist, versatile but insidious ingredient. Three semifinalists who measured themselves in the kitchen with different techniques and creativity: Elvira Sofia, Salvatore Vadalà and Liliana Tomasello.

In the end, having the best was just Liliana Tomasello, who convinced the jury with his Calamari stuffed with the whore sauce. An intense, balanced and decisive character, capable of enhancing the flavor of the sea with an iconic condiment of the Mediterranean tradition. A proof of personality that surprised the jury by overturning the predictions of the eve.

In second place he ranked Salvatore Vadalà, 52 years old, who came from Recordman of the first phase (his highest score ever recorded in Messintavola). For him in the race he Calamaro rolls stuffed with the Messina Ghiotta, rich and structured dish, appreciated but less incisive than expectations.

The third step of the podium went instead to Elvira Sofia, who presented gods Stuffed squid roasted on potatoes and leeks velvety, flavored with turmeric, mint, nutmeg and thyme. A refined and well -studied proposal, which however has not managed to overcome the expressive force of the other two preparations.

As always, the work of the jury composed of Salvatore De Maria (also a conductor next to Valeria Zingale), Alberto Palella, Will be Gugliotta, Nico Cicero (Unime), Antonella Ruggeri (Corte dei Mari), Dino Cardile (heartholephorn) e Alessandra Strazzeri (Chef Quattro Calici).

With this victory, Liliana Tomasello earns a place in the final and also the possibility of cooking alongside professional chefs at Messina Street Food Fest, scheduled from 16 to 19 October.

The path of Messervola It now continues with the next two semifinals, who promise other surprises and new challenges in the kitchen, always in the sign of the tradition reinterpreted with creativity.
