Messina turns up the volume and heads straight for the big international circuits. Mayor Federico Basile today formalized the launch of Atarashi, the first international electronic music festival that will enliven the Capo Peloro Arena.

The announcement comes after months of negotiations and represents a turning point for the tourist and cultural strategy of the city of the Strait, consolidating the “Messina city of music and events” brand.

From the abandoned state to the global stage

The beating heart of the event will be the former Sea Flight area, now Arena Capo Peloro. What until recently was a symbol of urban decay, occupied by dilapidated structures, is today the flagship of the city’s redevelopment.

“The area has been completely redeveloped thanks to the commitment of Cateno De Luca and my administration,” declared Mayor Basile. “It has become one of the most evocative spaces in the city, a natural stage capable of hosting world-class events.”

A promise kept

The arrival of an electronic music festival of this magnitude is not an isolated case, but the fruit of a precise political vision. The Basile administration had promised to include Messina permanently in the routes of large international flows, and Atarashi seems to be the first big step in this direction.

The declared objective is twofold: to attract a young and international audience, typical of large electronic music gatherings and to enhance the territory, using the scenic beauty of Capo Peloro as an attractive “brand”.

A new way of telling Messina

According to the mayor, this festival is just the beginning. The strategy is clear: transform the city into a cultural hub where music becomes the driving force for the local economy and the city’s image abroad.

Messina no longer wants to be just a passing destination, but a final destination. With Atarashi, the Strait gets ready to dance, marking the beginning of a new era for Sicilian entertainment.
