If the high shopping costs affect the empty trolleys of low-income families, in the next few weeks leading up to Christmas, the “Dedicated to you” card will offer concrete help. A one-off payment of 500 euros provided at national level by the Masaf implementing decree (Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry) to support the purchase of basic food items.
In the city, 5,516 families will benefit from the “Dedicated to you” social card. A decreasing figure compared to the years 2024 and 2023 when those entitled were 6,757.
«Unfortunately there has been a considerable drop in the number of recipients of the social card – states the councilor for social services Alessandra Calafiore – the surge in food costs caused by inflation is a factor that has its weight. Luckily we have thought of other benefits at a local level to support families in difficulty who struggle to pay their bills or rent. Be careful, if the number of recipients of the solidarity card this year is lower, it does not at all mean that the poverty situations we encounter on a daily basis have improved.” The old holders of the social card, which has been automatically renewed and recharged, have been enjoying the bonus since mid-October.
For new owners, however, the procedure involves a series of steps. First of all, you need to check your inclusion in the list of beneficiaries sent to the Municipality by INPS on the municipal platform. To verify this, citizens must authenticate via Spid or Cid at the following links http://serviziweb.comune.messina.it or http://socialcardinps.comune.messina.it, check the alphanumeric code or protocol number shown at the top right of their Dsu Isee and download the official communication containing the instructions for using the financial contribution.
To activate the card it is necessary to make a first payment by 16 December 2025 while the credited sum must be spent no later than 28 February 2026.
