On paper it should have been a session without fireworks, on the contrary: on the agenda of the city council convened for yesterday afternoon by president Massimiliano Minutoli there was one of those resolutions considered routine, the establishment of permanent council commissions. Still on paper, no major shocks were expected, considering that the general structure of the act had already been discussed and substantially approved in the conference of group leaders, therefore by all the representatives of the various political parties. Everything on paper.
Then, however, the Marcello Scurria factor enters the scene, making it incandescent – nothing but fireworks – a debate which, in the end, lasts about five hours, but which, above all, will leave behind important consequences, especially among the opposition ranks, even more so within a split Centre-Right. The summary is that the other forces of the coalition – Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and Grande Sicilia – end up “isolating” all the initiatives that Scurria takes during the session, right from the beginning, leaving only the two exponents of the group that bears the name of the lawyer, “Marcello Scurria Mayor”the group leader Pippo Capurro and Simona Contestabile, support its actions. Indeed, on several occasions the support arrives, which is anything but obvious, from the three councilors of the Democratic Party, with the other mayoral candidate of the last elections, Antonella Russo, appearing as the most “supportive” with the issues raised by Scurria.
