Messina, pedestrian hit by a car on Viale Giostra: 40-year-old in intensive care in serious condition

A 40-year-old man who was hit by a car yesterday afternoon on Viale Giostra lower part, at the intersection with Via Fiume, is hospitalized in serious condition in the intensive care unit of the Polyclinic. The man, who suffered a severe head injury in the impact, underwent delicate surgery in the Neurosurgery department during the night. Then the transfer to intensive care where the doctors are following the evolution of his condition. For the moment the prognosis is reserved.
The accident occurred on the northern service road of Viale Giostra not far from Via Garibaldi. The 40-year-old was alone and was crossing the road when the Alfa Romeo Mito arrived and hit him squarely. The pedestrian smashed his head into the windshield of the car driven by a 20-year-old while his father was in the passenger seat. The two immediately stopped to provide assistance. The victim’s condition immediately appeared very serious. The 40-year-old was transported to the Polyclinic by ambulance. The Municipal Police with Commander Giovanni Giardina are on site. Investigations to ascertain the dynamics and responsibilities of the accident have been entrusted to the Accident section led by inspector Giovanni Arizzi.
