It will take place from July 18th to August 8th there 22nd edition of the Horcynus Festival: this year’s theme is “Choosing Tomorrow”. The event, with the artistic direction of Frank Jannuzzi And James Flourwill be hosted as usual at the Horcynus Orca Park of Capo Peloro; It is made by the Horcynus Orca Foundation and MeSSInA Foundation and, over the years, with the support of: MiC, Sicilian Region, Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment, Sicilia Film Commission, University of Messina, Municipality of Messina, Metropolitan City of Messina, ATM – Messina Transport Company, Social Enterprise Con i Bambini.
The inauguration
The Festival will open Thursday 18th July at 8pm with the intervention of the Workers Buyout of the Metropolitan City of Messina. To the 9.30pm there will be the national premiere screening of the film “The Fifteen” by Alessandro Turchiwhich tells, through the voices of the protagonists, the birth and development of the Messina Brewery, the cooperative that has collected the moral but also professional legacy of the historic city brewery no longer operational for many years. Commenting on it, together with Turchi, there will be Monia Alfieri and Morgan Maugeriwhich followed the story ever since the master brewers of the old factory, after its definitive closure, decided to invest their severance pay, their life savings and their knowledge in a new, adventurous entrepreneurial activity that materialized in the Birrificio Messina, which became a case of national and international resonance, which successfully restarted, from the bottom up, beer production in the city. “The story of the fifteen brewers from Messina is an extraordinary one of redemption and rebirth that deserves to be told, even through images.“, points out Frank Jannuzzi president of Ecosmedia, which produced the documentary in association with EcosMed, with the contribution of the Film Commission of the Sicilian Region and the logistical assistance of the Messina Film Commission. The technical crew, composed of Monia Alfieri, Gaetano Sciacca, Andrea Scimone and Carla Bonomoas well as the post-production entrusted to Pomona Pictures and the audio optimization by Dalek Studio. The soundtrack is also signed by the Messina native Frederick Flour.
The Festival will include the sections “Archipelagos of Vision”, “Sea of Arab Cinema”, the “Seeing Music” competition, “Fuori Norma”, the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival, literary, theatre and music events.
The secretary of the MeSSInA Foundation is satisfied again this year Gaetano Giunta for the choice of programming which, he said, “it is the result of a research path that we try to develop during the year also through other initiatives”.
