Misericordia Odv is equipped with a new resuscitation ambulance. The vehicle equipped with all the advanced first aid services, purchased thanks to the donation of private individuals including Caronte &Tourist, combined with the generosity of some citizens, will be used for the assistance activity that the volunteers, led by the governor and doctor Piero Delia, carry out daily for 35 years. “No one dies on earth as long as they live in the hearts of those who remain”: it is dedicated to Salvatore Pino, the 55-year-old owner of a well-known meeting place in Provinciale, who died 4 months ago due to cancer. Yesterday afternoon at the end of the mass presided over in the church of San Nicola di Bari in Pistunina by the ecclesiastical assistant Don Giovanni Pelleriti, the blessing ceremony of the ambulance was held in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile with the councilors Massimiliano Minutoli and Massimo Finocchiaro, Pino's family and of a large presence of members of the other Civil Protection voluntary associations, Unitalsi and the Red Cross. The importance of service as an unconditional gift of oneself and attention to the person at the center of the volunteer commitment: Father Pelleriti recalled this by underlining the diversity of the “colours” of the uniforms that characterize the various groups, a sign of that “diversity of experience that translates into proximity and sharing of discomfort and suffering”. Salvatore Pino, always close to Mercy, “was a brother to all of us, a master of generosity and availability: in his memory we want to continue to offer our charitable service to those who suffer” said Piero Delia, moved.
