The municipal administration of Messina has released a note after the controversies unleashed, especially on social networks, following the cancellation of the The Kolors concert.
“Regarding comments and press articles that are circulating in these hours, the municipal administration – reads a note – considers it necessary to clarify the following.
“To complete what has already been said in recent days, citizens should know how things really are.”
“The Kolors would not have come to Messina for a charity initiative, nor their possible performance would have occurred free of charge for their choice.
On the contrary, the band would have been hired by the municipality of Messina with a cachet equal to 65 thousand euros.
The intent of the administration was to offer citizenship a great musical event of national importance, totally for the benefit of the community. For needs exclusively related to the safety and contingenting of access, a symbolic ticket of 1.50 euros has been provided. It is important to underline that this sum was not in any way collected by the Municipality, which instead incurred all the organizational expenses and those connected with artistic performance.
Precisely by virtue of this economic and organizational commitment, artists expected professional behavior adequate to the occasion. Unfortunately, the declarations subsequently made by Stash caused serious damage to the municipal administration, generating naive and foundation criticism.
For these reasons, the Administration is evaluating the opportunity to protect itself even in the competent legal offices for the statements deemed harmful to its reputation “.
