The arrivals of the Racing City Group, president Justin Davis and deputy Morris Pagniello, seem to have brought a new breath of fresh air after the storm of recent months. The first moves give rise to hope, but always with caution. There is certainly a hopeful expectation, dictated by the ideas and words of the two managers of the new group who, in these first weeks in Messina, have acted with clarity and without great proclamations.
Trust but also a lot of caution, because the past is still too recent and stings too much. The intention of the Racing City Group is to make the fans forget the disappointment and, above all, not to give it any more. In this sense the new company is moving to provide solidity with the greater objective of creating a “sustainable Messina”, as declared by Davis and Pagniello.
After the first concrete initiatives (sponsor, shirt, coach and event for the club’s 125th anniversary) and after witnessing the success against CastrumFavara, the owners focused on an imminent deadline, that of the guarantee which will be enforced in Lega Pro by tomorrow. A fundamental step to have a clearer picture of the sports debt to be covered which, at the moment, amounts to around 640 thousand euros, but in the event of enforcement it could lead to a significant reduction of up to 290 thousand euros. The company is awaiting official communications from the League, which could express itself between today and tomorrow and the management hopes for a positive response, also because it has followed the expected process. There is confidence to complete a further and important step, which will be followed by official entry into the federation after having already met a first fundamental requirement and, that is, having created the new company with registered office in Messina.
Furthermore, the two representatives of the Racing City Group should have another meeting with the municipal administration and the mayor Federico Basile: a discussion is likely only with Davis, who will leave Sicily tomorrow, while Pagniello has brought forward his departure for other sporting commitments.
Championship and market. The team continues preparations for the next match on the pitch of the highly rated Nissa, looking for redemption after the defeat in Barcelona against Nuova Igea Virtus. As regards the market, however, the new group works in synergy with sporting director Martello and coach Romano to evaluate the elements to be included in the squad. Various leads have been opened and profiles followed, while the arrival of the attacking midfielder Giovanbattista Catalano, already with the Giallorossi in the 2019-20 season, has faded away. The 1994 born player preferred Vigor Lamezia for family reasons after starting the season with Nola from Campania.
