The procession “Let’s stop the genocide of Gaza”, headed towards Piazza Unione European, started from Piazza Antonello to Messina. The initiative, organized in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla, wants to draw attention to the siege of the Gaza Strip. The international flotilla is browsing the Palestinian coasts with the symbolic objective of breaking the embargo and bringing a message of solidarity.
The mobilization follows to yesterday’s demonstration, which saw the participation of the CGIL secretary general, Maurizio Landini, in Messina. Landini reiterated the refusal to the logic of war and violence, underlining: “We must not be afraid to expand the dialogue”.
Landini also denounced how “war is enriching banks and large companies, while workers and retirees paid the highest price with taxes and inflation”. He then recalled the Constitution, reiterating that “the Republic is founded at work and that it is necessary to defend the social state from those who want to dismantle it in favor of private individuals”.
