A tourist brochure of the golden years read as follows: “The largest bathing complex in the South: 600 cabins, two swimming pools, bars, hot table”. And an even more dated poster, in black and white, advertised “the most modern and equipped hotel-balneal complex of the southern Italy in one of the most enchanting coasts in the world”. How all this has been translated, over the decades, in the shame of what remains of the Lido di Mortelle and that we return to publish in these pagesremains one of the great mysteries of a tremendously self -injurious city.
The coast potentially remains wonderful. But currently, if you remain in the context of what could happen potentially, the dangers that run around what seems to be the ideal set of a horror film are much more concrete. Ideal because it would not even need who knows which budget for the setting: it’s all already there.
