The DC for Scurria, the Liberals for Basile. Returning to the field, in view of the administrative elections in May, are the acronyms of parties that have made history, in Messina and in the rest of Italy, during the past decades, and which now seemed to belong to the archive of politics. And yet they are still alive and well.
It is precisely the municipal secretary of the DC who convenes a summit of the parties that support the lawyer’s candidacy for mayor. Marcello Scurria. A signal that Rosalia Schirò, in agreement with the former president of the municipal council Pippo Previti, wanted to send when the possible transition to the De Luca-Basile alignment of the municipal councilor Giovanni Caruso, a member of the DC, was spoken and written about. «We are promoting a meeting in order to identify programs, proposals and strategies to support the candidate, who will be present at the meeting, which will be held on Wednesday 18 March, at 6 pm, in the DC headquarters in via Romagnosi», explains Schirò. The leaders of Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega, Grande Sicilia, UDC and Noi Moderati will take part.
On the other front, there is the endorsement of Liberal Democracy towards the outgoing mayor. In the last meeting of the provincial coordination, chaired by Nino Dalmazio and with the participation of the national president Enzo Palumbo and the vice president Pippo Rao, the management of Liberal Democracy expressed «its closeness and solidarity to mayor Basile for the significant and positive results of his administration, which, in continuity with that of the former mayor Cateno De Luca.
