Arianna Fontana is in the history of Italian and world sport. By winning gold in the short track mixed relay, the champion rose to 12 medals, one less than the absolute record of the fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti. Arianna Fontana equaled Armin Zoeggeler’s record of winning a medal in six consecutive Olympics.
The “Freccia di Berbenno” won her first five-hoop medal at the age of 15, in Turin 2006 (bronze in the women’s relay). In 2010 in Vancouver he won bronze in the 500m, in Sochi 2014 silver in the 500m and bronze in both the 1500m and relay, at PyeongChang 2018, gold in the 500m, bronze in the 1000m and silver in the relay. At Beijing 2022, Arianna confirmed the gold in the 500m and won silver in the 1500m and in the mixed relay, the latter being the race that today saw her win gold together with Elisa Confortola, Thomas Nadalini and Pietro Sighel.
