It is a definitive break between the Center-Left and “Countercurrent” after the decision that led the movement of the deputy La Vardera to formalize the candidate for mayor in the person of Dr. Giuseppe Falliti. The representatives of the Democratic Party, the 5 Star Movement and the Communist Refoundation distanced themselves and at the end of a meeting announced that they will run alone. And, in order to make their political identity more recognisable, they announced that they will identify themselves as “The Progressives”, definitively abandoning the “Yes – We are together” logo which had been presented just last month in a press conference and which also welcomed the civic group headed by Falliti. Against whom criticism is addressed in the document released to the press. «Whoever decided to interrupt this path, pursuing personalism or the logic of opportunity, has chosen to move away from a common project – we read in a note – and takes on the responsibility of strengthening that type of “dinosaur politics” that we all want to overcome. We hoped for a leap of responsibility, to avoid the fracture of the axis of understanding created at a regional level between the progressive parties and the Countercurrent movement. We believe that dividing ourselves over the choice of mayoral candidate, avoiding discussion, is a choice far from our vision of participatory politics.”
