Minimum pensions, increases starting from July but not for everyone. Here’s who they belong to.
Starting from July, the minimum pension will increase. However, not everyone will find extra money in their monthly pay. The extraordinary increase established by the government in the latest budget will, in fact, only concern former workers and not those who receive a welfare transfer from INPS. Consequently, cthose who have a minimum civil disability pension, for example, will be excluded. Thus, the upward adjustment will only affect those who have paid social security contributions, which limits the number of beneficiaries.
If you are over 75 years old, the minimum pension will go from just under 564 euros per month to almost 600 euros; instead, for those who are younger, the maximum achievable will be 572 euros. Since it has been decided that the increase will take effect starting from January, all increases for the first half of 2023 will arrive in a single solution (in total, around 200 euros for older people). This measure, which will cost 400 million euros this year, is added to the increase that has already occurred to adapt to the price increase required by law, which also applies to welfare checks. Therefore, starting from January, the minimum pensions, which were 525.38 euros per month, were raised to 563.74 euros, fully applying the inflation recovery of 7.3%.
Even those receiving up to €2,100 gross per month were protected from the significant price increase, with their allowance rising by €150 per month. For higher pensions, however, the revaluation is lower, with a mechanism that reduces the increase as the amount of the allowance increases and, consequently, leads to a loss of purchasing power (that is, fewer goods can be purchased with the same amount of money) and an estimated saving for state finances of 10.1 billion until 2025, which becomes 36 billion by 2032.
