A protocol of understanding between President Rosaria Succurro and dr. Antonino Scagliola – respectively in the capacity of legal representatives of the Province of Cosenza and the Calabria Cip – Italian Paralympic Committee.

Dr. Stefano Muraca, Calabria CIP Council component; Dr. Debora Granata, provincial delegate Cip Cosenza; and dr. Giuseppe Meranda, manager of the budget and heritage sectors of the province.

The protocol is aimed at promoting the creation and implementation of individual projects regarding the promotion of motor and sports activities involving disabled athletes and sector associations. The initiatives will involve the schools of relevance of the Province, offering trails for approaching sport for all ages and skills.

“It is a cultural revolution through sport, a challenge that aims to support the plurality of skills and enhance every person, regardless of their skills,” said President Cip Calabria, Antonino Scagliola.

With the aim of creating concrete opportunities for participation, for President Succurro the protocol aims to put sport in the center of the community, as a tool for growth, sociality and well -being: «This protocol represents a significant turning point for our community. Promoting sport for all means recognizing and enhancing the different skills, offering each boy and every disabled athlete the opportunity to express himself, grow and participate fully. The schools of the Province will be the protagonists of a path of inclusion that goes far beyond sporting activity: it is an investment in the dignity, creativity and sense of belonging of each of us ” – he said.

“The partnership with the Italian Paralympic Committee allows us to build an integrated, innovative and sustainable offer together. The projects intended for schools will be joined by training actions for teachers, tutors and companions, so that plurality is real, daily and lasting. Sport is not just competition: it is dialogue, respect and possibility of expressing one’s potential. This is the beginning of a cultural journey: it is not just about bringing down physical barriers, but of bringing down mental barriers. Through sport, we will work to encourage the autonomy, trust and inspiration of all individuals, with particular attention to the younger generations and families ” – he added.

The President Succurro concludes: «We thank the Italian Paralympic Committee for the trust and willingness to build, together, a better, competitive and solidarity province. We will use ourselves with our offices, to intercept calls and loans useful to accompany us on this path ».
