It is controversial to the City Council of Reggio Calabria for the failure to grant a minute of silence for Charlie Kirk. The councilor of the Mixed Group Massimo Ripepi, author of the request, speaks of “Diktat of the Democratic Party” and “shameful betrayal of Christian values”. The President of the Assembly, the Dem Enzo Marra, replies by claiming that he has been “adopted parameter not dissimilar to other previous cases”.
According to Ripepi, it was “a simple, human and Christian gesture to remember a broken life for faith in Jesus Christ”. And he defines “Marra’s decision to give the word to the group leader of the Democratic Party Giuseppe Marino who asked for ten minutes of suspension. “An excuse – says Ripepi to earn time and receive indications from the Mayor and the National Secretariat of the Democratic Party. After this theater, the president, who presumably consulted with the leaders of the party, refused to grant the minute of silence, citing motivations that I even feel ashamed to report ».
“While recognizing the gravity and heinousness of the murder of Charlie Kirk, with the aggravating circumstance of considering the fact as an attack on freedom of thought, which this administration considers sacred and inviolable – Marra replies – it was considered not to grant a minute of silence, as regards American events, albeit impacting in the international context, whose implications have already been widely exploited under the political aspect.”
Marra then explains that “an evaluation parameter was adopted not unlike the one adopted three years ago, on the occasion of the death of five people for the assault on the Capitol Hill Capitol in Washington, or more recently, when a deputy of the Minnesota Democratic Party, together with her husband, also democratic politician (Senator John Hoffman) were killed for political reasons”.
