Add the Gazzetta del Sud as a source

The Center and the North will finally return to breathe an air of normality, leaving behind the extreme heat of recent days for a positive weekend and without the violent storms recorded on Friday. The anomalous heat, although scaled down, will instead remain stubbornly confined to the South, where the thermometers will continue to show “human fever” temperatures.
The forecasts are from IlMeteo.it.
Saturday 30 August: extreme values will still be recorded in the South, with peaks of 40°C in Caltanissetta and 39°C between Catania, Cosenza, Ragusa and Reggio Calabria. Very hot values, between 37°C and 38°C, will persist across much of Puglia, Basilicata and Sicily (for example in Lecce, Matera, Agrigento and Messina).
Sunday 31 August: the mercury will also grant a very slight discount to the South, stopping at a maximum of 37°C in Sicily, Calabria and Puglia, while in Central Italy it will not go beyond the more bearable 34°C and in the North we will be below 30-31.
Monday 1 September: a calm, sunny return to work guaranteed without excessive temperatures. However, the real change of scene will come in the very first days of the new month.
Between 1 and 2 September, the passage of an Atlantic disturbance will force the umbrellas to be pulled out in the North and in part of the Centre. Although not particularly intense, this disturbance will have the merit of maintaining acceptable temperatures. Just when it seems like we have closed the books, long-term projections send out a worrying signal.
After a more pleasant phase, the models foresee the risk of a new flare-up of the anticyclone after September 5th. Although it is too early to have absolute certainties after a week, the mere hypothesis smacks of mockery. This scorching season, which began anomalously already in May, has now exhausted every reserve of patience: it really is time for this endless summer to leave the stage.
