«I didn’t know: I’m very happy and excited». The archer Chiara Rebagliati will be the first Italian athlete to compete at the Paris Olympics. Tomorrow, July 25, on the eve of the opening ceremony, at 9.30 am, the Italian athlete will compete in the women’s ranking round on the stage of the Esplanade des Invalides, one of the many evocative locations of the 2024 Games.

“Here everything is incredible, from the Village to the field you pass in front of so many beautiful places, it’s very exciting, the competition location is something unique”, Rebagliati’s enthusiasm. A few hours later, in the afternoon session (which is scheduled to start at 2.15 pm), it will be the turn of the 72 men’s qualifying arrows with three Italians as protagonists: Mauro Nespoli (at his fifth Olympic participation), Federico Musolesi and Alessandro Paoli).

All the scores obtained by each archer will be decisive in drawing up the ranking that will in fact be valid for the composition of all the knockout tables, with Italy taking part in four of the five events on the program: women’s individual, men’s individual, men’s team event and mixed team. Tomorrow will also mark the Olympic debut of Francesca DiMonteassistant referee, designated for the match scheduled in Saint-Etienne between the women’s national teams of Canada and New Zealand. Paolo Valeri has already worked in the VAR room today, as Video assistant referee, for the Argentina-Morocco match, which ended 2-2 and was marked by the excesses of the Moroccan fans. And in France there will also be Massimiliano Irrati who, starting from the Olympics, will take on the new role of Fifa Var instructor. Small satisfactions that certainly will not be able to erase the disappointment for the European Championships in Germany and for the failure of the national football teams to participate in Paris 2024.
