It could have been a short circuit, probably caused by a malfunctioning air conditioner, that triggered the fire which developed violently in the late morning today in the seaside village of Mongiove, a hamlet of Patti, threatening the neighboring homes.
The flames, fanned by the wind, spread rapidly, generating fear among residents. Fire brigade teams intervened on site, engaged in extinguishing operations and making the area safe to prevent the fire from reaching nearby homes.
