«We ask the Government to clarify what are the real causes of the delays that continue to block the completion of the port of Tremestieri and what initiatives it intends to take to definitively unlock a strategic work for Messina and for the entire transport system of the Strait». This is the question posed to the Ministry of Infrastructure and that of Economy and Finance through the interpellation of which Anthony Barbagallo, secretary of the Sicilian Democratic Party and leader of the Dem group in the Transport and Infrastructure commission, is the first signatory and signed by the Dem deputy Maria Stefania Marino.
«The port of Tremestieri is – we read in the inspection document – an indispensable infrastructure for transferring heavy traffic out of the urban centre, improving safety, reducing pollution and making mobility more efficient. For this reason, it is unacceptable that, after the appointment of an extraordinary commissioner, we continue to talk only about technical critical issues without indicating certain solutions and timescales. There is also a question of credibility of the Government’s action: announcements about major works cannot be multiplied when an infrastructure already financed, already launched and needed by citizens has been blocked for years”.
