We pedal for peace is the title of the initiative promoted at national level by Emergency and Fiab and scheduled in Messina next Tuesday 15 July, with rally at 6 pm, at Villa Sabin, and departure at 18.30.

The pedaling, open to all and all, including children and families, provides a symbolic path along the North cycle path with three stages dedicated to health, peace and human rights. The kilometers traveled will flow into a national count with the ideal goal of reaching Kiev, from Rome, on two wheels.

The event wants to be a concrete message against the logic of rearmament and conflicts, and favor of a culture of peace and social justice. Emergency is also active in Ukraine with a medical project that reaches the isolated communities by bicycle, to guarantee basic treatments for those who cannot move.

Participants will be given a “rag of peace”, a symbol of the refusal of the war. «In a historical moment marked by humanitarian tragedies such as the one in progress in Gaza – declares the president of Fiab Messina cycle path, Fabrizio Murè – Where civilians continue to pay the highest price, we remember the words of Gino Strada: “There are no winners at war. There are only rubble, dead and injured. Always”.

Our symbolic bicycle wants to be a visible gesture of commitment to peace, care and the right to life of every human being ». «With this ride we want to bring the Emergency message to the street: war is never the solution. Wherever you fight, civilians always pay the highest price. We are here to say that there is another way of being together: made of solidarity, rights and mutual care », he concludes Loredana Raffacoordinator of the Emergency Messina group.

The path: Gathering at 6 pm in Villa Sabin (the organizers recommend maximum punctuality) and departure at 18.30, along the north cycle path; At 18.45 the Health stage, at the Paradiso Fontana; At 19 the second stage, peace, to the Bourbon cannons; At 19.20, Human Rights stage, at the Belvedere Mia Martini di Grotte; At 7.45 pm I return to Villa Sabin with thanks and final greetings.
