Heavy vehicles related to construction sites of the railway random in transit on the seafront also outside the times agreed a year ago for all the municipalities including Between Nice of Sicily in Sant’Alessio Siculo. It is the dispute moved by the mayor of Roccalumera, Giuseppe Lombardo, to the Messina-Catania Lotto Nord consortium, which brings together the manufacturers of the new infrastructure. Already on June 24 the first citizen had detected the passage of the trucks at unavailable times, from 9.30 to 11and on June 27, the consortium replied that some of the vehicles mentioned did not transport materials subject to the agreement but excavated lands and rocks from production sites other than the mechanical moles for the excavation of the galleries, while others had materials produced by the mole of the “Sciglio” tunnel on board (Nice of Sicily) but with the qualification of waste (and not of excavation lands intended for reuse as a subdutic). «This type of materials is a case not foreseen on the date of stipulation of the agreement – specified Eng. Antonino Pulejo, president of the Consortium – of minority incidence on the total volume of transport and which cannot pass through night hours, because the disposal systems available are open only in daytime. However, we are available at a further meeting in order to reconcile the needs of the territory with those of the works and compliance with the legislation on temporary filing of waste “.
Justifications not accepted by Lombardo, who now wrote to the Consortium again and for knowledge to the Prefecture, the Italian Railway Network and Italferr, intimating the fulfillment of the obligations assumed with the agreement of 8 August 2024
