The tender notice for the implementation of the redevelopment and infrastructure interventions in the industrial areas of Calabria has been published, divided into the northern, central and southern areas. This is a total investment of over 41 million euros, promoted by the Calabria Region through Arsai, led by president Sergio Abramo, which marks the start of the operational phase of one of the most important modernization programs of the regional production areas.

The publication of the measure gives concrete implementation to the political direction strongly desired by the President of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, who identified the relaunch of industrial areas as one of the strategic priorities to strengthen the competitiveness of the Calabrian production system, attract new investments and create conditions favorable to the growth of businesses and employment.

The tender represents the result of a process of consultation and discussion developed with Confindustria Calabria and with the employers, thanks to which it was possible to define interventions consistent with the real needs of the production fabric. This announcement translates into actions a precise will of President Roberto Occhiuto and the Regional Council: to restore centrality to the industrial areas of Calabria, providing them with modern infrastructures and adequate services to make them increasingly attractive.

The investment is part of the broader regional program for the relaunch of the industrial areas prepared by the Department of Work, Enterprises and Productive Areas, directed by the general manager Fortunato Varone, which saw the work of the manager Caterina Loddo, of the Innovation, start-ups, industrial and retro-port areas – Zes implementation sector and by Arsai, through the extraordinary commissioner Sergio Riitano, with the aim of transforming the production areas into modern, sustainable and competitive hubs, capable of supporting the economic development of Calabria and to strengthen its role in the national production system and in the Mediterranean.

What the works involve

The planned works will concern, among other things, the reconstruction of roads, the energy efficiency of lighting systems, the implementation of horizontal and vertical signs, the improvement of safety and environmental sustainability, the installation of video surveillance systems and the creation of the infrastructures essential to encourage the establishment and growth of businesses.

“With the publication of the tender – declares the regional councilor for economic development, Giovanni Calabrese – we are finally entering the operational phase of a strategic intervention for the productive future of Calabria. It is an investment that arises from constant dialogue with the business system and which will make the industrial areas more modern, functional and competitive”.

For President Abramo “the start of the procedure represents the result of intense technical and administrative work carried out in recent months and coordinated by the manager Pasquale Filella. It is a strategic investment that will allow us to enhance the heritage of the Calabrian industrial areas, improving their functionality and ability to attract new production facilities”.
