The carabinieri of the Locri Forestry Carabinieri Unit, directed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a man in the act of crime for the crime of combustion of waste.
As part of the intensified controls for the prevention of fires and environmental crimes in the province of Reggio Calabria, the forest carabinieri surprised the man intent on setting fire with a kitchen burner to waste and vegetation in the novelty row between the municipalities of Locri and Siderno.
Thanks to the timely intervention, the criminal activity has been interrupted, avoiding serious damage derived from fire to waste such as eternity and plastics.
This type of fire is particularly dangerous because the combustion of waste of platform materials releases dioxins and toxic fumes in the air, extremely harmful to health and the environment.
In several points of the Fiumara, evident signs of burning have appeared as a residue of the combustion of abandoned waste.

The Locri Court validated the arrest, as per the request of the local Prosecutor’s Office, resulting in personal precautionary measure of presentation to the CC station competent for the territory to ensure control over the behavior of the subject and prevent further conduct of the same nature.
