The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria has notified the conclusion of the preliminary investigations to 51 people, investigated in various capacities for False ideological and material and for the use of Artifact documentation in the context of medical-legal appraisals.

The operation is the result of an articulated investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Reggio Calabria, directed by Dr. Giuseppe Lombardo, which led to light conduct aimed at obtaining, fraudulently, Civil disability pensions and checks. According to what emerged, the suspects submitted false documents at the Court – Labor Section of Reggio Calabria, erroring the judicial experts in charge of clinical evaluations.

The investigation started from a complaint brought by a technical consultant appointed by the Court, who had found the unreliability of some medical certifications, apparently issued by public health facilities. Subsequent investigative investigations, conducted by Group of the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabrialed to home searches and to the seizure of large documentation, including false health certificates, requests submitted to INPS and copies of recognition documents.

During the searches, further tests were acquired: documents from healthcare facilities, some also located outside the province, and information obtained through testimonial excits of doctors who formally unknown the authorship of the certifications found.

According to the investigative reconstructions, several subjects – initially excluded from the recognition of the validity by the INPS – would have promoted civil appeals accompanied by false documentation, obtaining the recognition of disability and the consequent access to economic benefits.

The fraud would have been orchestrated by two main promoters – mother and daughter – already subjected to house arrest in May 2022 for similar crimes and for the risk of reiteration and evidentiary pollution. The two women would have operated with the support of an unfaithful employee of the INPS, who, thanks to illegal access to the body’s databases, would have provided confidential information on the social security positions of subjects that were then illegitimate results of subsidies.
