The Guardia di Finanza, in a joint operation between the provincial commands of Florence and Reggio Calabria and the Scico, performed a second -degree confiscation measure against a Calabrian drug trafficker and usury contiguous to the Bellocco gang of Rosarno. The action, coordinated by the District Anti -Mafia Directions of Reggio Calabria and Florence, concerns goods for a total value of about 200 thousand euros.

The provision, issued by the Prevention Measures section of the Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria, confirms what has already been established at first instance by the Court of Reggio in September 2024: the assets of the subject – disproportionate to the declared income – was the result of illegal activities. Specifically, a 16 -meter fishing boat were confiscated, a building, three motor vehicles and financial resources, as well as a company. At the same time, the measure of special surveillance with an obligation to stay in the municipality of residence for 4 years was also arranged against him.

The figure of the recipient of the provision had already emerged in various anti -mafia investigations:

“Magma” operation (November 2019, DDA of Reggio Calabria) which led to 45 arrests, which ended with its conviction for international drug trafficking;

Operation “grass of grace” (DDA of Florence), which saw him sentenced on appeal to 4 years for drug trafficking;

Operation “Buenaventura”, always conducted in Florence, which led to his sentence at first instance at 8 years for extortion aggravated by the mafia method, as part of a usury loan to an entrepreneur in the textile sector, with interest rates over 66% per year.

The Court of Appeal Reggina rejected the appeals presented by man and his wife, considering their objections unfounded and fully confirming the patrimonial reconstruction of the Guardia di Finanza.

The operation testifies to the constant attention of the yellow flames and the anti -mafia prosecutors towards the aggression to the assets accumulated by criminal consortiums. “Hitting goods means removing lifeblood from organized crime and returning transparency to the economic fabric” – underline investigators.
