The new provision of pre -trial detention in prison issued against Domenico Sergi, among the suspects arrested in the context of the maxi anti -mafia operation “Millennium”, canceled by the Court of Libertà. Sergi had been arrested again by the investigating judge, at the request of the anti -mafia prosecutor, after the court of freedom, just a few weeks earlier, had canceled the custody in prison. The suspect, defended by the lawyer Marco Gemelli of the Reggio Calabria Forum, flanked by the lawyers Michele Sergi and Emanuela Rocco, is accused of an association aimed at international drug trafficking, with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method. Specifically for the investigators it would be involved in 49 distinct episodes of drug trafficking.
“Millennium” is the investigation that involved a hundred people between Calabria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna and other regions, hitting hard some joints of the ‘Ndrangheta Reggina, including the powerful’ edge of the Agresta and the Barbarian of Platì, also operating in northern Italy and internationally through a gigantic system of drug trafficking and money laundering.
At the hearing, the public prosecutor anti -mafia had again requested to maintain the guardian measure (already canceled on the occasion of the previous review), while the defense proposed technical arguments, accompanied by documentary production
