Three appeals on electoral matters were filed with the Calabria Regional Administrative Court by as many candidates in the regional elections of 5 and 6 October. In particular, two candidates from the centre-left coalition presented an appeal to obtain entry into the Regional Council: Giusy Iemma, candidate in the center constituency on the PD list and Francesco De Nisi, candidate in the center constituency on the Casa Riformista list. Among the ranks of the centre-right, Michele Comito, the first of the non-elected in the central constituency and candidate on the Occhiuto President list, addressed the TAR.
According to the appellants, the central electoral office was wrong in considering only the votes cast for the lists as valid but should also have taken into account the preferences expressed for the presidential candidate. The application of this calculation method could lead to the exclusion from the Regional Council of the Noi Moderati party which would not exceed the 4% threshold, losing the two seats allocated to Vito Pitaro and Riccardo Rosa.
The hearing to deal with the appeals is set for February 11th. Francesco Sarica, candidate in the southern constituency with the League list, will also file the appeal tomorrow.
