The mayor of Corigliano-Rossano, Flavio Stasi, is among the protagonists of the final evening of the center-left election campaign. Just in his city, in Piazza Bernardino Fosse, the leaders of the progressive field will go on stage to support Pasquale Tridico’s candidacy against the outgoing president Roberto Occhiuto. Among them also Giuseppe Conte, expected for the final rally.

We asked Stasi what climate we breathe to Corigliano-Rossano and as the electoral challenge now at the final jokes sees.

“You can breathe a positive air. I am sure that citizens will respond, because there is a need to turn the page. The center -left has presented a serious and authoritative proposal, with Pasquale Tridico and with new ideas compared to those that have marked the regional policy in recent years, leaving Calabria on their knees, especially on the health front. I believe that the Calabrians have understood it”.

Some would have liked her as President of President. Was there this option?

“Yes, and I do not consider it a negative fact, on the contrary. It was positive that the center -left had more authoritative figures on the pitch. But the choice of Pasquale Tridico is satisfactory for all of us. I have always said that one matters only: what we want to do with Calabria. And we are demonstrating it, because we are compact and united to achieve the goal”.

If Tridico wins, what would change compared to the last few years?

“Regardless of political colors, the last four years have been deleterious for Calabria and for our territory. With Occhiuto the regional council has closed in itself: no interlocution, no planning, no involvement of the territories. The regional policy has transformed into management of interests that are not good for Calabria. With Tridico it would change the perspective: we would return to breathe development and future”.

What was the most sensational mistake of Occhiuto?

“Silence. Silence on government choices, from differentiated autonomy to cut 10 billion for high speed. Decisions that will condemn Calabria to an even more serious insulation. I think citizens have understood it and that they will remember it in the polls”.
