The appointment with the elections for the renewal of the Council of the Province of Vibo Valentia is approaching, scheduled for next Friday 12 December, from 8 to 19, in the council room.

The organizational machine of the Vibo area intermediate body has already completed all the preliminary requirements, from verifying the candidatures to preparing the voting procedures for the 554 entitled directors.

The composition of the electoral body is affected by the ongoing commissioner situations: the Municipalities of Acquaro, Stefanaconi and Tropea will not participate in the vote, while the administration of Capistrano will be regularly present, renewed on 23 and 24 November 2025.

The provincial electoral office has already been operational for days

The organization of the entire procedure is entrusted to the Provincial Electoral Office, established by Presidential Decree no. 11 of 6 November 2025 and has been operational for several days under the coordination of the Secretary General, Domenico Arena.

The body, established by president Corrado Antonio L’Andolina, is following and will follow all phases of the electoral process: reception and verification of the lists, control of the minutes, assistance with voting operations and official transmission of the results.

The vote weighting system

As required by Law 56/2014, art. 1 paragraph 34, the directors’ vote will be weighted in relation to the population resident in the respective Municipalities. The demographic groups are as follows:

Band A – Municipalities under 3,000 inhabitants

The municipalities falling into this range include: Arena, Brognaturo, Capistrano, Cessaniti, Dasà, Dinami, Drapia, Fabrizia, Filandari, Filogaso, Francavilla, Francica, Gerocarne, Joppolo, Maierato, Mongiana, Monterosso, Nardodipace, Parghelia, Pizzoni, Polia, San Costantino, San Gregorio, San Nicola da Crissa, Sant’Onofrio, Simbario, Sorianello, Soriano, Spadola, Spilinga, Vallelonga, Vazzano, Zaccanopoli, Zambrone and Zungri.

Band B – Municipalities between 3,000 and 5,000 inhabitants

It includes Briatico, Philadelphia, Ionadi, Limbadi, Ricadi, Rombiolo and San Calogero.

Band C – Municipalities between 5,000 and 10,000 inhabitants

Mileto, Nicotera, Pizzo and Serra San Bruno belong to it.

Band E – Municipalities between 30,000 and 100,000 inhabitants

Includes the capital municipality of Vibo Valentia.

This system guarantees that the weight of the vote proportionally reflects the demographic size of the territories represented.
