Fabio Roscioli wins the by-elections in Reggio Calabria and claims the success of the united centre-right. In the declarations of the winner, the president of the Region Roberto Occhiuto and the mayor of Reggio Francesco Cannizzaro, the result rewards the compactness of the coalition and the work in the territory. And it becomes an opportunity to respond to Vannacci: «The center-right can do it without him», says Roscioli.
Roscioli: «Vannacci has taken away the center-left»
«The united center-right has achieved a superior result beyond all expectations, the center-left has taken a step backwards. If Vannacci took away, he took away from them”, declares Roscioli, who reads the vote as “an excellent signal for the unity of the coalition”. Roberto Occhiuto links the outcome of the polls to the judgment on the administrative action. He speaks of a “very strong government here in Reggio” and underlines that Cannizzaro is governing the city “with an exceptional attitude”. For the President of the Region, the voters chose “good governance”.
Occhiuto also intervenes on Vannacci’s role, accusing him of having come to Reggio to “steal the group leader of Forza Italia”. And he adds: “There has been much more talk about him than necessary.”
Cannizzaro: «A cohesive, compact and credible team»
Francesco Cannizzaro attributes the success to a “cohesive, compact and credible” team, linking credibility to the realization of facts. He then responds to the objection regarding the candidate’s origins, raised by Vannacci: Roscioli is not from Reggio, but the people of Reggio rewarded him because he was «functional to a project that in just a few months has demonstrated that it can change the face of a city».
«Forza Italia proves to be the locomotive of the center-right in Italy, but it is a team game», says Cannizzaro, recalling the contribution of the other mayors and thanking all those who participated in the result. The harshest joke is still for Vannacci, on the basis of what Occhiuto stated: «He wanted to conquer Saxony, he took electoral stones».
