The death toll from Russian attacks in Ukraine rose to at least six people overnight, authorities said, as Moscow continued attacks in several regions.

Three people were killed in the capital Kiev, two in the central Dnipropetrovsk region and one in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, according to data provided by regional officials.

Heavy Russian attacks on Kiev have caused power outages across much of the Ukrainian capital, the mayor and a major power company said. “The energy infrastructure of Kiev and the surrounding region has been hit by a massive ballistic missile attack. There are power outages in the capital,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram. The Dtek group, quoted by Ukrinform, explained that emergency blackouts occurred in the districts of Darnytsia, Dniprovska, Pecherska, Solomianska and part of the Holosiivska district. The electricity company assured that technicians are already working to restore electricity to all homes as soon as possible. As reported by Ukrinform, three people were killed and over 20 injured in Kiev following a Russian ballistic attack. Following the Russian attack on the energy sector, consumers in Kiev, as well as those in the Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhia regions, are without electricity this morning. This was reported by the Ukrainian electricity company Ukrenergo, as reported by the local media.

Six thermal power plants were bombed last night by Russian forces in the Kiev and Kharkiv regions, Moscow’s Defense Ministry said. And this despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement of an alleged energy truce between Moscow and Kiev. Two of these plants, the Darnitskaya and Kievskaya power plants, were hit in the capital, two in the Kiev region itself and another two in Kharkiv and its region. The Ukrsibbank ATM data center, which managed internet traffic in Kiev, was also bombed. A total of 902 Ukrainian drones were shot down last night by air defenses over 19 Russian regions, occupied Crimea and the Sea of Azov. This was announced by the Ministry of Defence, quoted by Tass. Previously the mayor of Moscow, Serghei Sobyanin, had said that 493 drones were launched over the capital region alone.

“Russia has never before shown such a blatant lack of respect towards the USA, it does not consider the American president’s statements to be firm.” So on X the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Last night’s attack was “completely deliberate and demonstrative in its scope, a Russian ballistic missile attack aimed specifically at energy infrastructure, precisely those protected by the ceasefire announced by the US president. Russia has wasted the opportunity for de-escalation and has clearly chosen to continue its crazy war of annihilation”. During the night, Zelensky explained, “the Russians used 39 ballistic missiles and over 120 autonomous attack drones and munitions against our energy and critical infrastructures in Kiev, the Kiev region and Kharkiv”https://gazzettadelsud.it/articoli/mondo/2026/10/14/raid-russi-contro-lucraina-kiev-kharkiv-e-sumy-se nza-luce-zelensky-deliberate-disrespect-for-the-usa-6c9a5bfd-1c17-40be-b85f-d7562d1af942/.”We ask President Trump to impose severe (capitalized, ed.) sanctions on Russia.” We ask America and everyone in the world not to turn a blind eye to the reality to respond – and to respond forcefully. The American President has all the effective and necessary tools to bring peace closer through force, justice and pressure on the aggressor. We call for additional Patriot missile interceptor packages for Ukraine. It is absolutely right that we tell the United States, Europe and all our partners that no country in the world should be left alone to face such a deranged and warmongering actor as Russia. I am grateful to everyone who helps Ukraine. Peace can only come through strength, and we ask America to remember this Reagan principle.” “Sadly, at least 600,000 people are now without electricity. The interruptions could extend further.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on I am grateful to the repair teams, all workers of the Ukrainian energy sector and the personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for all their efforts to deal with the consequences of this Russian attack. Tragically, there were fatalities and injuries.”

The operation of some Starlink internet terminals appears to have been limited overnight. A technology advisor to the Ukrainian president said this after US President Donald Trump called for a pause in attacks on energy infrastructure. “Tonight SpaceX introduced a speed limit for moving Starlink terminals,” said the councilor, Sergiy Beskrestnov. “Our defense forces were not warned of this limitation, which led to the interruption of several missions. Obviously, this action cannot be a coincidence and is linked to the current political situation.”
